How Do Friends?
Its a scorching hot day here in eastern Canada and I admit the heat does not bother me. The summer goes by so fast that I just roll with the hot days. The garden though this year has been suffering due to the high temperatures and water issues at the community garden, However she continues to grow allowing me to harvest bits and pieces.
This year has gifted me a change up in my living situation, so gratefully I moved into a different location in the city that has been home for 6.5 years. Moving is not for the faint of heart, being a serial mover for many past years. This particular move was unsettling as being stationary for quite awhile I was so out of practice, although memory recall kicked in as the moving progress began.
It was like a full circle moment on alot of levels, this new location change returned me to the downtown centre closer to everything needed and wanted. As with every move many sacrifices and compromises were made. Here I am living in a location that is full of many good past memories.
The new space is smaller than the last but on the other hand there are so many bonuses such as top of line appliances, my own washer/dryer ,heat pump and no stairs or living in a basement suite.
The biggest change coming is I will be looking at having an outside studio. Many of my tools and material needs just do not fit due to lack of storage space. A pivot was in order before and during the move in creating storage ,this resulted in letting many things go.
What intrigued me was things that I’ve packed with me for years upon arrival in the new space no longer suited me or the space no matter how much I would have liked it to work. these items no longer belonged in my life or home. It will take me awhile to settle in and surprisingly I am ok with staying put except for finding studio space which i will keep you all updated. I hope the summer has been good to you despite these high temperatures. Be Well Friends and Be Kind to Yourself.

I love your pull-up pantry. It’s amazing how much space we can create when we get inspired!
As to the letting go of things, I have a lot of practice at this. My last move was from 900 square feet to 300 and I had no choice but to release so much of what I had. I have to tell you there’s tremendous freedom in it! And after 6 months you won’t even remember half of what you let go of! Also I like the theory that when you release what doesn’t serve you it makes space for what does! I have no doubt that you will have many happy and creative years in your new home! Congratulations! Letting things go can be bittersweet, but it makes room for new beginnings to find you.
