I consider myself to be a life long learner ,the learning of make it, bake it ,grow it, simplicity and resourcefulness was modeled and lived by my parents.

As a young one I followed the lead of the many elders in my life whom also walked and talked my parents life model. It was amazing the process of watching the garden grow, then the harvesting which moved into cooking/baking and preserving the harvest. From seed to table. That was just garden life, there was so many other things to learn in my household and community.

 

In my mid age life now those early learning’s set a precedence as to how I approached learning something new in my life. Having a curious nature has facilitated new skills

I take on. There are still so many things I want to know and experience.

 

As an Expressive Arts Facilitator I am passionate about sharing art experiences with others. The workshops I facilitate I clearly state that “No Art Experience Necessary.” before you panic and doubt yourself and say well I am not an artist ,take a deep breath and hear me say that you are very welcome to cross my threshold irregardless of creative experience. What I am asking you to bring to the art table is curiosity ,willingness and remain open. The rest will truly take care of its creative self.

“No Art Experience Necessary” works well in my process based workshops…..Its about the journey.

Playing, experimenting and being has a large role in the creative process. All of this was modeled to me as a child. Participation in the day to day running of our household inside and out was a given ,I was shown the task delegated to me sometimes two or three times until I got it and I definitely had no experience but raw curiosity and trust in the process at hand.

 

During these unprecedented times ,I’ve had the pleasure of reading and watching people take on new skills that before there was not enough time .or other reasons. Here’s the thing most of what I see is that many wanted to try these new ways of being in the kitchen ,the garden ,the workshop and so on…and it has unfolded into here and now. There was in several cases no past experiences but they had a willingness and curiosity to leap. Please be mindful when you are looking at diverse learning of all kinds ,sometimes just do it and enjoy the journey….When you walk with me and sit at my art table “No Art Experience Is Necessary”
