Hey There;

Thanx for stopping in. Lately I’ve been thinking of my relationship with my kitchen and the role it plays in my life. Growing up in a large family, I observed our kitchen was much like a family room as a lot of time was spent in that central space in the home. My Mother was an exceptional baker and cook.

At 10 years of age I entered that sacred space and for many years I was taught the domestic kitchen arts which came to me easily. I loved everything and more about prep, reading recipes, ingredients , timing and learning how to make and bake food for my large family. The family kitchen was not large but it held up to six people carrying out various tasks for a Sunday dinner or a annual celebration such as Christmas and Easter . The interesting thing that I loved was the rhythm and movement of all those people in the kitchen to bring the many dishes to the table where we would all sit in gratitude.

A kitchen has always had importance where ever I have lived, The kitchen and studio are usually the first two spaces set up in my home upon moving in. As many years passed from my childhood family kitchen, cooking and baking these days has been adjusted to make smaller quantiy for one or two person household. While I always appreciate opportunities to step back into preparing and sharing meals on a larger scales with others.

One of my fave kitchen tools

I have favourite tools that are used consistently moved from kitchen to kitchen. One of my favourite tools is my kitchen altar as I give thanks every time I enter the kitchen to test a new or repeat a familiar recipe. The creative magic flows throughout my small space as my art table is mere steps from

the kitchen. The making whether it be a recipe or a new art piece in this small space is all about Happy Places. In honouring my roots and the influences that keep unfolding throughout my journey, I embrace life as a proud domestic goddess, a keeper of the hearth ,a artist/maker, these are the things that matter most.

My kitchen altar has recipes in the drawers…..

Domestic Goddess:

I come back to the kitchen

like it remembers me—

the hands in flour, in water, in warmth,
a quiet ritual of becoming.

There is power here,
in the ordinary kitchen alchemy—
turning hunger into comfort,
ingredients into offering,
a table into belonging.

I honour the ancestral hands before mine,
the ones who stirred, kneaded, carried
who made something from almost nothing

and called it enough.

I am not small in this.
I am not hidden.

I am the keeper of flame,
the tender of hearth,
the maker of things that hold people together
in ways the world forgets to name.

There is something sacred
in feeding many,
in the generous spill of abundance,
in saying
come, sit, stay.

My life unfolds here too—
in the simmer, the rise, the sharing,
in every quiet act of care
that builds a world from the inside out.

I am rooted,
I am becoming,
I am the Domestic Goddess
and this,
this matters

This is a zine I made that speaks to my domestic goddess life….Yes I still have some available…..
