The Birth of the Casa Sanctuary Art House Art Parties;

In 2012 I had moved to Ajijic Mexico, being new to the country and my resident location, I was in awe of the diverse artworks created by the local nationals and the expats. I wanted to be a part of this vibrant arts community but felt somewhat intimidated by the vast experience of these artists. Having the opportunity to peek into artists studios was food for the soul and also learning more about creative reuse in this beautiful country. I learned a lot about the arts and the people of Mexico in those many years of living in Mexico in different locations and travelling about in the country.

Many years down the road I had returned to Canada ,Vancouver specifically and had a very cool studio in the Vancouver East End plunk in the middle of full on street life. There was alot of inspiration outside those windows and walking to and from the studio.

The people who inhabited and lived on the streets were a diverse world onto themselves and like Mexico I learned alot about my artist self in those interactions of life literally on the ground. Sharing my passion for the arts was always simmering in my soul but the question was how to? One day i came across an artist on the world wide web facilitating art parties, well i was hooked and wanted to know more..

My own version of art parties based on my Mexico and studio experiences started out in my Vancouver BC home , The living room and kitchen became work spaces and at that time I had created a body casting art party for women’s positive body image. Breast Casting a 2 day art party was very well received and the rest is herstory… All these years later the return of Casa Sanctuary Art Party has been reborn in a different location and time in my life.
